What is the Gospel?

The Gospel is a story of God’s Love, Goodness, and Faithfulness.

The Gospel

In the beginning…

In the beginning, God created everything! He created the whole world and everything in it and He created us; humans. God created Adam and Eve in His image   Genesis 1:27   and God had a perfect relationship with Adam and Eve. Before the fall   Genesis 3,   God communed with Adam and Eve freely. Once Adam and Eve chose to eat the forbidden fruit, thus sinning against God, they could no longer have a perfect relationship with Him because the sin had defiled them. But, that isn’t the end of the story, God loves us so much that He chose to send His son Jesus to die on the cross and take the punishment for our sins. Scriptures say that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord   Romans 6:23.   God gave us this Gift of salvation because He loves us! He loves you! When we accept in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord we will be saved   Romans 10:9.  When we choose to make Jesus Lord of our life and follow Him our relationship with God is restored because we are made a new creation  2 Corinthians 5:17.  By believing in Jesus we are made new, washed clean by the blood, purified, made righteous and worthy, we are white as snow. Jesus took the punishment for every sin: past, present, and future. God also makes us 2 promises: we will have eternal life with Him here on earth as in heaven   John 3:16   and the Holy Spirit will come and dwell within us   1 Corinthians 6:19.  When you have accepted Jesus as Lord of your life you are sealed by God, you can live knowing that you are a child of God and you are now called higher.

Jesus gives us the following commandment in scripture that we get to fulfill as Christians, this commandment is as simple as a conversation with your friend. It’s time to tell the world.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"
Matthew 28:18-20
"He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name, they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it."
Mark 16:15-20

It is now your turn, as a follower of Jesus, to share the gospel to all of creation!

There are four books of the Bible called the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John

  • Each book is an account of Jesus’s life here on earth, they share the miracles he performed,  the parables He shared, and the death He took yet we deserved.
