Chicago Mission trip 2023 with Reach the Heart
Chicago 2023 was my fourth trip with Reach the Heart to inner-city south-side Chicago. This mission trip has transformed and helped hold my path into being a missionary. I am so grateful for the years I have been able to attend this trip and for the work the Lord has been doing in Chicago through this mission trip.
During this mission trip, I got to minister to a variety of different people from young kids in the inner city, to my students on the trip with me, and to the older generation ready to see a revival in their neighborhood.
Chicago is a beautiful city with some amazing people within it, we just need to take the time to look closer and get to know the community. I have found that the young kids are full of life and ready to take on the world and it’s our job to help direct them. While I was in Chicago, I got to help lead the kid’s ministry nights, these nights consisted of singing, dancing, Bible verses, testimonies, and some amazing Bible stories! At the end of each night, we would have a student on the trip share their testimony and then offer to the kids the greatest gift we could ever offer, salvation. One night we had 12 kids accept Jesus as Lord of their lives and it was truly beautiful! I got to lead some of the children in my “Chicago Family” through accepting Jesus and it was so beautiful! I love my “Chicago Family” so much!
My “Chicago Family” is a family I got to meet during my second year in Chicago and I connected with the family extremely well! this family has my heart and I wish the best for all of them! I stay in contact with the Mom (Portia) and she keeps me updated on how the kids are doing!
This was my first time ever leading students on a mission trip and I loved every second. I had some amazing girls as my students and that definitely helped everything go smoothly. Each day the girls and I would have our individual quiet time and then meet together and talk about what the Lord had revealed to us during that time. Ministering to these amazing women of God was definitely a highlight of my trip.
